TERMS and CONDITIONS

IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT ALL STUDENTS WILL MAKE A CONCERTED COMMITMENT REGARDING ATTENDANCE AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AND WILL PROGRESS TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITIES.

ADMISSION

Classes are open to persons of all ages seeking professional instruction in drawing, painting and sculpture whether for an avocation, vocation or in preparation to enter college as an art major or minor.  High school art students and graduate applicants must first submit artwork for acceptance.  Only students enrolled in the College Prep Portfolio Program will receive the services of Comprehensive College Counseling.  All others will be considered non-program students and will receive full instruction, constructive evaluations and critiques.  All students must have an evaluation of their work by the Director of HFA to be accepted into the program.  Rolling admissions for all grades except for seniors.

ABSENCES

NON-PROGRAM STUDENTS (Students enrolled in one or two classes only)

All absences can be made up on days other than student’s regular classes within the ten week schedule; the dates will not be extended.  Students continuing in the same schedule without interval will have the opportunity to make up missed classes from the prior session.

COLLEGE PREP PORTFOLIO AND FOUNDATION PROGRAM STUDENTS

During the 32 week period there is a potential of 192 classes of which 96 are required to complete the general program.  Absences should be made up during the 32 week period.

CANCELLATIONS

NON-PROGRAM STUDENTS (Students enrolled for one or two classes only)

Students enrolled in a ten week program and leaving after two to five weeks will be billed at a five week rate and balances will be credited retroactively to the student.  There will be no credit in the ten week program after the fifth week.

COLLEGE PREP PORTFOLIO AND FOUNDATION PROGRAM STUDENTS

Students enrolled in the College Prep Portfolio Program or Foundation Program leaving in the second week will be charged for the two weeks plus $200.  There will be no refunds after the second week.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

SENIOR PORTFOLIO PROGRAM STUDENTS

PHOTOGRAPHY  The Director will schedule photography of each student’s work when we have decided that the portfolio is complete.  This service is billed separately by the school photographer.

PRINTS AND DIGITAL MEDIA  We will format each portfolio based on the individual college’s requirements (e.g. print, CD, slideroom or other uploading formats).  All paperwork, essays, resumés, artwork descriptions and letters of recommendation will be either submitted online or mailed to each school.  Portfolios are assembled by HFA staff together with each student.  You will be charged in accordance with the number of schools applied to.

ALL STUDENTS

SCULPTURE CASTING SESSIONS  Students learn the process of casting a clay sculpture into a finished plaster sculpture for their portfolio.  You will be billed separately for casting materials.

MATERIALS  Students are required to supply all materials per HFA Materials List.  There is a yearly charge of $550 for additional materials supplied by HFA included in the first payment

.PAYMENT

BILLS MUST BE PAID TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO STARTING NON-PROGRAM CLASSES.  ALL PORTFOLIO PROGRAM TUITION MUST BE PAID BY SPECIFIED CONTRACT DATES.  STUDENTS WITH UNPAID BILLS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND CLASS.  A LATE FEE OF 5% WILL BE APPLIED TO ALL ACCOUNTS 30 DAYS PAST DUE.
